7 Months On

Friday the 24th of December officially marked 7 months since we started our role as the leaders for AIM Southern Region. It has been a season of learning, growing and it has been character shaping. Even in this season, He is still the potter and we are the clay.

Having spent 7 months on the job we now have a much clearer picture of what all this requires. We spent a lot of time listening, consulting and waiting upon the Lord for a much clearer direction on how best to lead His people. We constantly had run to Him as we recognized our inability to make any meaningful impact without His help.

We have been exposed to different cultures, different ways of thinking and different ways of leading. This has challenged the way we view leadership. We ask for wisdom from God to know when to speak up, when to be quiet, when to confront and when to affirm.

We recognize that diversity brings such a collective strength that is a blessing to the multi-cultural teams we are leading. Please pray for continued wisdom, that we will lead in a manner that ultimately brings glory to God and advances His mission in Southern Africa.

The Harvest and LEAP Teams

SOUTHERN REGION UPDATE

In this year two teams were sent out to Lesotho and both have been going strong. The harvest team just completed their time and all delight that they have had this experience of ministry to the shepherds. The ladies were with the missionary couple, Kgothalo and his wife engaging in ministry amongst women and children. The day they left, a group of Basotho teenagers were all in tears as they bid them farewell. This shows the bond they were able to build with the community in such a short period of time.  The 2 guys were with Caleb Fetterhoff and walked many kilometres to engage the shepherds. What they lost in weight, they gained in great life and ministry experiences. Our prayer is that a couple of them will come back for a longer term.

The LEAP Lesotho team is ongoing and should be running till February 2022. One of the participants recently described their time together as character moulding. We have a multicultural team. Even though the majority are from Africa they’re from different parts of Africa. They are dealing with issues of worldview and getting to appreciate the diversity they are blessed with. Our prayer is that this will be beneficial to all of them once they go to their ministry locations from March 2022. Tshepang spent some time with both these teams in early December. The leaders are doing a phenomenal job. Pray for strength for all to finish well.

CELL GROUP

In January we are starting a Missions course with our cell group. This will be an 8 weeks journey with the group. We will be using the COMPASS booklet for that. The COMPASS booklet is designed for the Kenyan context. It was written by a mission group AIM Partners with here. At the end of this period of study, we will take the cell group on an outreach to an unreached people group in coastal Kenya. Pray for an impactful time of studying God’s mission from God’s word. Pray God will use this to envision this group for His mission.

PRAISE AND PRAYER POINTS

  • We are grateful for a few teams also launched this year. This year a business team was launched in the Islands. In November a  medical team was also in the Islands. Please pray that the Lord will really use these two teams to engage the Unreached Islanders with the gospel.
  • We recently got news from Northern Mozambique that the Visas for our Nampula team members have been approved. We are grateful to the Lord for this breakthrough. Pray for the team as they start their ministry in February 2022. Pray that this will be a healthy team and for fruitful ministry amongst the Mwani.
  • This coming year we will be doing a few surveys to explore ministry possibilities in a few other countries in Southern Africa. We will also be exploring new partnerships with other organizations across the Region. Please pray that the Lord will open our eyes to see possibilities and partnerships worth pursuing. Pray that as we explore and partner we will not be risk-averse.

Friend thank you for your faithful partnership. We have been greatly blessed by your love this year. Wishing you and your family a very fruitful 2022. “The Lord bless you and keep you;  the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;  the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6: 24-26

With Love
