“You Made My Year”

A few weeks ago Tshepang got an email from one of our country leaders with this line “You made my Year“. That note was a huge encouragement to us. What did Tshepang do that made this leader say this? He visited her in her ministry location, listened to her story, and prayed with her.  Phillip Stanhope once said, “many a man would rather you heard his story than granted his request.”  As we interact with our members we get to realize how much they appreciate a simple phone call, an email check-in and an “I am praying for you”.

Tshepang and Chris Power in the Islands

MISSIONARY VISITS

Last month Tshepang visited Mozambique (with Mat Linley) and the Indian Ocean Islands (with Chris Power). He visited a total of 35 missionaries in their ministry contexts. They spent time with each member, listening to their stories (their victories and struggles), and prayed with each of them. We have repeatedly heard back from the members that they value these visits. We are grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to spend time with the missionaries in our region. Our desire is to visit each of our missionaries in their ministry location by the middle of next year.  Please pray for opportunities to do that. With Covid that has not been easy to do.

The Group that meets in our home

CELL GROUP

When we moved to Kenya we asked you to pray that we find a good church where we can fellowship. Thank you for praying. We found a very lovely church that is theologically sound. We so enjoy being part of this community that we have started a cell group with a few other new members. We have a group of 9 adults coming to our home to study the Word twice a month on a Saturday afternoon.

They are a very diverse group of young professionals. We have a football player, an accountant, a tax consultant, a pastor, an IT specialist, and a journalist among others. Please lift this group to the Lord and pray that the Lord’s purposes for bringing these people our way will be accomplished. Pray for us as we lead them that we will point them to the Lord and that we will grow together in Him.

Southern Region Indaba 2021

SOUTHERN REGION

We just concluded our leadership meetings (dubbed Indaba) with the Southern Africa country directors we supervise. We had a great time of fellowship and spent time working on our strategic plans for the next 4 years. We came up with some God-sized dreams that can only be achieved by His help. Please pray that the Lord will lead us as we trust Him to see the Unreached peoples of Southern Africa reached and churches across the Region mobilized for Missions.

The SRO Guest House

SR GUEST HOUSE

In our last newsletter, we mentioned Queen is managing a Guest House for our office. Since it was set up we have hosted a number of missionaries looking for a quiet place to stay. Some for a few days but most stay up to a month. Over the last 2 months, Queen hosted 2 families with medical emergencies. Having a quiet place to rest and recuperate has been a huge blessing to them. Through the guesthouse, we have had amazing opportunities to connect with our members and other AIM colleagues. Pray that this guest-house will continue to be a place of rest, restoration, and refreshment for our missionaries. Pray for refreshment for Queen as she extends hospitality to our members passing through Nairobi.

Sergio, Pontsho, and their daughter Keilah

A DISCIPLE–MAKING DISCIPLES

Whilst in Mozambique Tshepang visited Sergio and his wife Pontsho. You may remember that Sergio was part of the last group of missionaries we trained in Botswana. Shortly after he finished his training we stayed with him for 6 months to give him some on-the-job training in mobilizing churches for missions.

Today he is making disciples in his city of Chimoio and starting house churches in neighbouring villages. What a joy to see God working so powerfully through this dear brother and his family. Please pray for him as he continues to make disciples and that those disciples will make other disciples (2 Tim 2:2). Thank God for the disciples that are being made, leaders that are being trained and the churches that are being planted.

MAGAZINE ARTICLES

We have been privileged to have been invited to write a few articles over the last few months. Queen wrote an article for the AIM Europe office. In the article, she writes about her journey as a woman in missions and writes on the different seasons in ministry. You can access it here. Tshepang has been writing Editorial pieces for AfriGO Magazine for this year. You can access the latest edition here.

PRAYER POINTS

  • Please pray for the LEAP Lesotho program starting on the 15th of November. We currently have 4 people confirmed for the program. 1 are from the USA, 1 from South Africa, and 2 from Kenya. Pray that they will have a great time of growth together. Pray also for Steve and Sue Kiracufe as they lead this group over the next 3 months.
  • Harvest teams are short-term outreach teams designed for Africans who are exploring missions. A Harvest team of 4 (2 young men and 2 young women) from South Africa will be travelling to Lesotho on the 30th of October. The group is from Flock House Institute, in Pretoria where Tshepang has been teaching Theology of Missions. They wil be spending the next 2 months with our Shepherds ministry team. Please pray for Khothalo, Tsaone, Caleb, and Tobias (our shepherd’s ministry team) as they host, lead and serve alongside this group. Pray also for provision for the team as they embark on this exciting adventure.

Friend thank you for ministering to us through your gifts. May the Lord richly reward you.

With Love

Tshepang, Queen, Lethabo and Ntungamili
